Sara & Kate Boccaccini-Meadows
August 27th - 30th
Field Notes -
Sara and Kate Boccaccini Meadows
After living and working for many years in the US, COVID-19 forced Sara and Kate back to their home town in the Peak District, Derbyshire.
Arriving in early spring just as lockdown began, both sisters were struck by the diversity in flora and fauna so unique to the British countryside and climate. Field Notes is an exhibition of painting and drawing exploring this theme in a celebration of the beauty and bio-diversity of the UK. Both works focus on the importance of connecting with nature.
With reference to textiles, interiors and fashion, Kate uses traditional and contemporary techniques to make large scale silk paintings from reclaimed fabric. Kate’s work centers around ideas of repetition and process, the divide between natural and manmade. The exhibition also includes some field study sketches.
Sara is exhibiting a collection of illustrative paintings, developed from sketchbooks and field notes. Sara, who usually works small-scale, has expanded her practice for this exhibition, creating large-scale “backdrops” of the British landscape.
This is a socially distanced exhibition. A one way system will be in place in the gallery, masks must be worn, and a maximum of 40 visitors to the gallery at any one time. Please help us to keep you safe. Thanks.

Laura Taff - Lets Latch
Britain has some of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world, mostly due to the negative attitude towards breastfeeding in public. I have created a series of images of real mum's breastfeeding their babies with a photographer, Alexandra Wallace. There are many women who have faced scrutiny from breastfeeding their child in public. As a woman I feel strongly about this subject and aim to utilise my creative output to help shift perceptions.
Like most social campaigns, our aim is to put the series of images from #letslatch in front of as many people as possible. This will be done using a mixture of web, social and print outlets.
Join our #letslatch movement and celebrate how truly beautiful motherhood is. You can also have a peek at some amazing independent Sheffield businesses. Keep an eye on the facebook event 'Lets Latch Exhibition', all will be revealed! No tickets needed, just turn up on the day!
